In 1986, a team coordinated by architect Nuno Portas, selected some of the most prestigious and internationaly known portuguese architects, to design the new buildings. Due to this, the University Campus of Santiago became a quality contribution to the architectural patrimony of the city. Today, in UA, you can walk amongst buildings designed by Alcino Soutinho, Álvaro Sisa Vieira, Pedro Ramalho, Luís Ramalho, José Maria Lopo Prata, Eduardo Souto Moura, Adalberto Dias, Rebello de Andrade, Jorge Kol de Carvalho, Gonçalo Byrne,Figueiredo Dias, and more, making you one of the hundreds of foreigner and local visitors.
