Vítor Figueiredo

Vítor Manuel Figueiredo was born in Figueira da Foz in 1924 and died in Lisbon in 2004.

He completed the Architecture course at the Porto School of Fine Arts in 1960.

During the 1960s and 1970s he dedicated himself to social housing projects in South Olivais, Chelas, Alto dos Moinhos, Benavente, Setúbal and Santo Estêvão.

With an inexhaustible energy, he starred in a series of unique projects in Portuguese Architecture, always recognizable and always different, based on a profound ethical, social and cultural approach. Its Atelier has for many years been an open forum for discussion and dialogue, forming and informing consecutive generations of architects.

He lectured at the University of Coimbra and at the Autonomous University of Lisbon.

The Secil Prize was awarded to him by the project of the Superior School of Arts and Design in Caldas da Rainha.
